About MTB by 198
“Mountain Biking by 198″ is a blog that was an off-shoot of the trail site we were trying to get going, MTBTrailReview.com. As time progressed, the blog starting gaining a lot of headway, so we decided to give it our attention full time. The information that was contained on the trail site portion will be moved to special pages on this blog.
The blog started out of a true love for the sport and lifestyle. Mountain biking is our passion, and with a lot of friends spread throughout the industry, we thought it would be a great idea to get some of this online. On MTB by 198, you are going to find product reviews, ride reports, general thoughts, industry news and anything else that pertains to mountain biking.
Mountain Biking by 198 has grown rapidly in a very short period of time. It is our goal to be one of the top blogs in the industry, and to keep this going for years to come.
We are always looking for article suggestions, site suggestions and overall impressions, so please shoot us an email when you get a chance.

MTBR PRO REVIEWS
I have recently gotten invited to be apart of MTBR’s Pro Review section. I am very excited about the opportunities this partnership will bring.
“198″ EXPLAINED
The “198″ nickname actually started off as RSutton198.
How it started…RedRocker on the sorba.org forum is known for photochopping ride pictures in is free time for some laughs. On one of our recent rides to Chicopee Woods, he took a picture of me going over a small jump. When we got back he used Photoshop to include the runner from the Special Olympics poster to make it look like I was racing him. The runners number was 197 and RSutton198 was born.
Out of respect to parents on the board with special needs children, the picture was pulled but the 198 stuck. It has grown more into a name for me doing things on the trail that normally result in something broken or a laughable video.
Just a small example…
