My name is Robb Sutton. I have been involved with the sport ever since my first real mountain bike that I received as a Christmas present in 1995. Ever since then, I have been hooked (ok…obsessed) with the sport and the lifestyle. I have watched the industry change a lot over the years and remember times when a 3 inch travel fork was considered downhill. Mountain biking has come an extremely long way since those times and the parts, trails and the community are really growing. It is exciting to watch the sport as it is becoming more mainstream and technology continues to bring new and exciting products to the market.
I started Mountain Biking by 198 as another outlet for my passion for the sport, but also as a way to capture its progression over time. In this blog, you will find product reviews, bike reviews, industry news, riding tips, ride reports and anything else related to the obsession we affectionately call mountain biking.
Mountain Biking by 198 has grown rapidly in a very short period of time. My goal to be one of the top blogs in the industry, and to keep this going for years to come.
I am always looking for article suggestions, site suggestions and overall impressions, so please shoot me an email when you get a chance.

I have recently gotten invited to be apart of MTBR’s Pro Review section. I am very excited about the opportunities this partnership will bring.
The “198″ nickname actually started off as RSutton198.
How it started…RedRocker on the sorba.org forum is known for photochopping ride pictures in is free time for some laughs. On one of our recent rides to Chicopee Woods, he took a picture of me going over a small jump. When we got back he used Photoshop to include the runner from the Special Olympics poster to make it look like I was racing him. The runners number was 197 and RSutton198 was born.
Out of respect to parents on the board with special needs children, the picture was pulled but the 198 stuck. It has grown more into a name for me taking unnecessary risks on the trail that usually equals something broken or a laughable video/story. I am always looking for ways to challenge my riding abilities, and to accomplish that…I run into a lot of mess-ups!
