“Four Wheels Move Your Body…

When I first heard this quote out of a motorcyclist's mouth, I could immediately relate. There is something about two-wheeled motion that truly moves something inside of you. Those that don't participate in this open wheeled bliss...just don't understand.

Wrenching = Meditation

Until there are loads of money in the mountain biking blog business, I still have a real job. After a long, stressful day at the office I find that wrenching on the bike for awhile can really calm the nerves and center my thoughts. There are many different ways that people wind down after a long day, but this one works the best for me.

The Perfect Morning Rides

It was Saturday morning. I headed down to Blankets Creek to get in an early morning ride to beat the heat. Just like I expected, I was one of 3 cars in the parking lot this early. Usually, this parking lot is filled with over 40 cars on a weekend. The morning fog hadn't even lifted off the lake yet and I started to get ready for my ride.

Fluid - Recovery Drink

Last week, Fluid sent me a tub of their new Tropical Escape flavored recovery drink to test out. This will be my first experience with any recovery drink, so I am excited to see some results. Per the instructions, I am supposed to mix 2 cups of Fluid in with 8 oz of water and drink it no within 30 minutes after my ride.

3G iPhone and Mountain Biking

On our recent ride at Raccoon Mountain, Jason had his brand new iPhone along for the trip. During the ride, he was able to take pictures, upload them to flickr.com and post them on his Twitter account with ease. Now, I thought I was ahead of the curve with the Blackberry Curve and all of its capabilities, but the new iPhone looks like it has a lot of benefits for internet junkies of all disciplines.

A Day Off!

This is the first day off I have had from my job in a long time. So what am I going to do with all of the free time? Hopefully, I get everything on my list done in time to get some riding in...if not, get ready for Tanasi.

The Ugliest Truck Ever

I was driving down I-20 in Atlanta on my way to our Tuesday night ride when I saw a truck so hideous that I had to take a picture. Seriously, what are people thinking?! As you can see by the picture, this Ford F350 crew cab dully has FAKE BLINGED OUT WHEELS attached to the regular ones!

My Soapbox Rant

I don't normally do this on Mountain Biking by 198, but I am now. One of the benefits of having a blog is the ability to speak your mind on subjects, and one of the great things about the comments section is that you can share yours! So here it goes...

Doing things we hate…

This month, our Lifetime Fitness finally opened around the corner. One of the biggest draws to this gym, for me, was the incredible spinning room. Now, I hate spinning. Riding a bike in a room for fitness is not high on my list of fun activities, but spinning does have one very real benefit...it makes you a stronger rider.

I Miss My Bike

I wrote a post recently on what cycling was to me. This week, I am once again reminded what happens when I miss out on my weekly ride routine that gives me all of the benifits that I mentioned in that post. The job that pays the bills had me out on the road from Monday until today.
