Monte Sano Fat Tire Festival
A great friend of mine, SSINGA, emailed me this information this week that I had to pass along. The Huntsville chapter of SORBA (Southern Off Road Biking Organization) is holding their annual Monte Sano Fat Tire Festival on the weekend of October 4th. If you are in the southeast United States at that time, you should stop by for some great trail riding on 45 miles worth of trail in Alabama.
Here are the organized rides:
- Easy Rider – smooth, non-technical, flat family trail (kid-friendly)
- Sano Sampler - Some rocks and roots, fun downhill and some not too painful climbs
- Whole Enchilada - Lots of everything, long and technical for seasoned riders
- New for 2008 ! More rides in each category for your choice of conversational or fast pace.
Online registration closes on September 27th and mail-in registration forms must be post-marked by September 20th.
The fees are as follows:
- $35 Pre-Register by September 27
- $50 On-Site Registration
- $20 Non-Riders and Kids (includes meals, park admission and games)
For more information and registration visit sorbahuntsville.org and you can also register at active.com.
There will be riding for all skill levels and plenty of activities and games surrounding the entire weekend. This would also be a great chance to get someone new to riding more into the sport. You'll get to meet some great people and get in some great riding. Stop by and check it out...if you won't be in the area, pass this along to friends that will.

Part of the proceeds from this event will go to a local charity that rescues and rebuilds bikes for those that need them as transportation. The balance is going into a bridge fund for the trails.
